I gave birth to
an asthmatic daughter and in her first 3 years of life it was very
stressful for her and myself. In those days, I didn't know much
about asthma and my daughter had to undergo many skin tests to
determine what the cause of her breathing problems were. It was
eventually diagnosed as Asthma connected to allergies of birch and
grass pollen.
She was given steroids in her young age and it triggered off
signs of bad temper and disorientational behaviour. As she grew
older she was prescribed inhalors which kept her condition under
control. Today, 29 years later, she is almost free of the conditions
and very rarely uses her inhalor.
I developed asthma when my daughter was about 10 years old. As
the years went by, I started developing allergies (things that would
make me wheeze, cough or sneeze).
I cannot wear perfume any more, neither can I use scented
deodorants, hairspray, most metals (I develop skin eczema) and
certain leathers. I am also highly allergic to cats and dogs and I
start wheezing and coughing after I have eaten peanuts (gotta stay
away from them!).
Today, I use a preventative inhalor to keep my condition under
control and I lead a very normal, happy and almost carefree life.
